In Germany Mercedes have introduced a new nose (left-hand drawing) which has a totally different shape to its predecessor (right-hand drawing).
It's higher and flatter with vertical pillars similar to the ones Ferrari introduced in Canada and, most importantly, it's also lighter. The team have had to carry out a new crash test for homologation.
It was used throughout practice and qualifying and will also be used in Sunday's race. Mercedes also trialed a passive 'double DRS' system at the Nurburgring, but it was only used in Practice One by Nico Rosberg for a few laps.
