BREAKING NEWS: Carlos Sainz signs with Ferrari, Daniel Ricciardo gets nabbed by McLaren

During the past week with the news of Sebastian Vettel planning to leave the Ferrari F1 team at the end of the (eventual) 2020 F1 season, there were speculation as to who would replace him.

Well, those rumours were put to rest during this past week with the announcement by Ferrari that Carlos Sainz, whom had a brilliant season with McLaren last year, had indeed agreed to a two-year contract to partner Charles Leclerc for the 2021 season.

Whilst Ferrari swooped in on Sainz, McLaren jumped at the opportunity to sign Daniel Ricciardo. This all does make perfect sense, seeing as McLaren had tried to convince Ricciardo prior to him joining Renault for 2019, to join McLaren instead. Now it seems that McLaren realized that they had to act swiftly to replace Sainz.

Now what does this mean for the rest of the field?

I feel the silly season is already upon us, and there's hasn't been one single race yet this season. With Vettel leaving Ferrari, where could his potential options be for the 2021 season?

With the McLaren door shut, and the possibility of him returning to Red Bull, to race alongside Verstappen seems it would never happen, I feel he may have options to join either of the following teams:

Renault - Now with a vacant seat for 2021, could Vettel have the balls to join them, seeing as all four his World Championships came with Red Bull, using Renault engines.

Mercedes - Could the German make a B-line to join Mercedes, thus potentially replacing Bottas, and partnering Hamilton, and in doing so, creating the ultimate dream F1 team?
